How To Make A Vision Of Love Board
Congrats on your decision to take the first step towards manifesting the love your dreams. A vision of love board is powerful and fun way to add personal flair. Transform your home workspace into a creative dream palace with this step-by-step guide.
Gather Supplies
Start collecting supplies to create your vision of love board.
Supplies
Large ziplock slider bag; small ziplock bags
Sharpie marker
Scissors
Double-Sided Tape
Chalkboard Poster Board
Calendar
To-Do List Sticky Notes
Magazines including 1 Essential Guide to Your Couple Goals
Use magazine words and images to fuel your imagination
Find a magazine guide for your celebrity couple goals. For this project, I chose the “Forever Lucy” because of the couple’s shared tv career goals.
Clip short words (3 words or less) and magazine images that describe how YOU want to feel (such as head over heels, butterflies, etc.) and your big dreams for your life together as a couple. Ask your partner which images/words spark ideas, create relief, or speak to their soul.
Based on the idea generation and brainstorming sessions, determine what words and images to put forward and structure it into categories. Separate different images/text into each marked zip lock bag.
Design Layout
Place a love calendar in the center of your vision board to track progress.
Adding a wall calendar on the vision board is a functional way to stay inspired by planning your vision. Make note of upcoming events that may get canceled or move.
Clear space for important to-do notes and mark important dates. Set expectations, shared goals and an estimated timeline. For a mobile version, pick up a vision planner that compliments your color scheme and style
Then, create a reward system for achieving certain milestones early. For example, you could pick a baecation trip from your couple bucket list for crushing a goal within one season.
Set early reminders to celebrate your love beyond anniversary dates, Valentine’s Day, Sweetest Day, etc. For short term plans, add a sticker or circle important upcoming dates. For longer term plans, use sticky notes to mark upcoming events, then when the month arrives, commit to writing the plans out.
Set monthly or quarterly check-ins to chat about your progress. Add a to-do list to remind you to change directions whenever you’re off track. Tag these months with a post-it note.
Keep self-care days between the major milestones to reward yourself.
Assemble your first draft of images/text to create an overall mood for your board.
Name your vision board with large alphabet letter stickers. The words and images at the top should be attention-grabbing and eye-catching.
Place one affirmation (preferably in a large font style) within each column and arrange it in a visually appealing way. Start pairing up related images/texts in each column while ensuring that each element is recognizable and readable. Place each image/text out onto the board (without taping), then use your intuition to streamline the elements for the right flow. Once you decide what to to include in your board, you’ll start to see patterns and the overall vision take form. You can keep playing around with the order of the clippings and how best to design the board as you compose your first draft.
Take out any redundant images and texts and replace them with better ones as you go. Note: It’s better to have too many pictures to choose your favorites from then less. Consider repurposing any unused magazine clippings for other crafts such as scrap books, time capsules, treasure maps, etc.
Choose a color scheme for the most prominent pieces of your board. A good rule of thumb is to stick to a maximum of 2 colors across your board to create a professional look and avoid confusing the eye. Aim for a high contrast between the background color to make the text as legible as possible, even viewing from a distance. Tying your images/text by theme, color, and style will give consistency to your layout. For this board, I chose bold gold font and arranged light pink and blue images on individual sides of the board.
The last step should be to pin everything to your board. And you’re done!
